Statement of Faith

The following confessional summary reflects the core biblical convictions held by New Community Church.

The Word of God

We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, free from error in the original writings, and interpreted by the Holy Spirit.

The Trinity

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are equal and eternal.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died as substitutionary sacrifice for sin, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and now serves at the right hand of the Father as High Priest and Advocate.

Mankind

We believe mankind was created in the image of God but fell into sin, resulting in spiritual death and separation from God. All people are born with a sinful nature and are incapable of saving themselves.

Salvation

We believe salvation is a free gift from God, offered by grace and received through personal faith in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross alone, apart from human works.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates the unbeliever, and indwells believers, empowering them to live godly lives, understand Scripture, and bear spiritual fruit.

Marriage

We believe God ordained marriage as a gift and holy covenant to humanity, an exclusive union between one man and one woman.

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, comprised of all true believers, and commissioned to build one another up and make disciples of all nations.

Ordinances and the Return of Christ

We observe the ordinances of believers' baptism and the Lord's Supper, and we believe in the personal, bodily, and imminent return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead, resulting in eternal blessing for believers and eternal punishment for those who reject the gospel.
